Weekend Recap

Friday night disappeared in a blur of Tony Hawk. The game comes with a built in time warping feature. I sat down at 10pm. Twenty minutes later I looked up and it was 1:30am.

On Saturday afternoon, I headed to the Redmond REI store for their SkiFest. Specifically I went for a free clinic on sharpening/waxing your skis and boards. They had a guy from Swix there and he gave a pretty good presentation on how it all works. I've read instructions about it before, but I've never actually seen it done. After the clinic, I felt confident enough to try it myself so I loaded up my basket with all the necessary gear and headed to the register. It was a bit painful at first, but after a season or two, it should pay for itself. I won't really know how well I did until I hit the slopes... luckily that won't be too long from now.

After REI, I headed into Bellevue to meet Matt and Laura for the showing of Warren Miller: Off the Grid. It's fantastic, as usual. The outing ended with a nice dinner, and then I hurried back home where a new toy awaited me.

Circuit City finally got their shipment of the 360 HDDVD players and I was lucky enough to snag one. The picture is absolutely gorgeous and I have a steady stream of HDDVDs coming from Blockbuster to keep the drive spinning.

Sunday morning was church and then I came home to relax, watch NASCAR and football, and play with all my new ski tuning equipment. All in all I kept very busy which was good. If I was just sitting around, I'd go crazy trying to wait for my first lift ride. It looks like the first ski trip will be Saturday. I'm planning to head to Crystal, so if you want to come along just let me know.
