You'll want to update your DVRs soon. The new season of Scrubs is starting on November 30. The really great news is that it's going to be in HD! NBC is trying to reclaim the glory of Thursday night's "Must See TV." The lineup now includes My Name is Earl, The Office, 30 Rock, and Scrubs. All except 30 Rock are near the top of my viewing list each week. Honestly I've never seen 30 Rock as I don't have time to chase around all the new shows each year since most of them fail anyway.

I broke that rule twice in the past year and got lucky each time. "How I Met Your Mother" and "The Class" are both fantastic CBS shows. The first is notable for its cast that includes Alyson Hannigan (Willow from Buffy) and Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie!). Both shed their previous roles well and provide plenty of laughs. "The Class" is a show about a third grade class that reunites about 20 years down the road. They all have unique idiosyncrasies that creates some humorous situations.

I would never have watched The Class except that the pilot episode was shown after an in-flight movie on a trip this summer. It's a wonderful way to present your new show to a captive audience that has nothing better to do than give your show a chance. I expect to see more networks trying this approach.
