It's warm this winter everywhere except the Pacific Northwest. The east coast ski resorts are closing because it's so warm and they can't make snow. In Seattle, we've had massive floods, devastating wind storms, and two 100-year storms all in the last 3 months. Many locations are having temps 20 degrees above average.
If I hear one more person sigh and say "Global warming" I'm going to punch them in the face. Seriously. If the temperature of the earth is going up 20 degrees a year, we're going to be dead before we find out what is really happening on Lost.
I'll tread lightly on the global warming issue itself because I really don't like debates about this stuff anymore. Here's what I'll say... some studies do show average temps are increasing uncontrollably (see An Inconvenient Truth.) Others studies say they're not (read State of Fear.) Either way you look at it, I think it's a bit arrogant to assume that we're the ones causing it. We have 100 years of semi-accurate data and we're trying to extrapolate it to explain the entire history of the earth and decide what is "normal."
Whatever your stance is on the issue, can we at least be a bit rational when tossing around this buzzword?
And that's all I have to say about that (but feel free to wage your own war in the comments.)
