On My Mind
I have had so much on my mind lately that it has been difficult to focus on any one task. Since I don't have any planned stories for today, I present you with a bulleted lists of the topics vying for time in my brain.
- New phone - On Thursday, I will be 20 months into my two year contract with Verizon which means I can get the maximum discount on a new phone. I'm struggling with the decision of what to get. The three choices are the Motorola Q9c (new version of my current phone), HTC Touch, or Samsung SCH-i760. If you have suggestions, please let me know. My current plan is to go for the HTC Touch and hope that Verizon releases new firmware this summer that enables the GPS and EVDO Rev A. I'm also hoping that I can adjust to the on screen keyboard.
- Ski lift - I'm heading up to Bellingham today to pick up my lift chair from Mt. Baker. Another guy in my building at work bought one too so we will be riding up together in his truck. Plenty of pictures will be posted once I get it home.
- Books - Those Studio711 books are still being printed. It will probably be another week or two before I receive them. Those represent a lot of work over the past couple months, and I'm hoping that they come out nicely.
- ScanGauge - I'm ridiculously excited about the ScanGauge arriving on my doorstep. It hasn't shipped yet from Amazon. Hopefully I'll have it by next weekend.
- Skiing on Saturday - That's right. The ski season isn't over yet! This is the last scheduled weekend for operations at Alpental. They still have 200" of snow at the top of the mountain so they could go for a lot longer, but ticket sales dwindle through April and continue to drop off as people get interested in summer activities. I'm heading up on Saturday morning to make a few runs.
- Hiking on Sunday - If the weather cooperates, I'll be making my first summit of Tiger Mountain in 2008 with Rachel.
- Solo office on Monday - Another team moved out of our building at work, so our team is undoubling a bit and spreading out into the new offices. I'll be getting my own office for the first time. (Actually I had a solo office for a few weeks but I always knew that was short term.) I've come up with a plan to decorate the office. Stay tuned for that project.
- GTA4 - I've never played any of the Grand Theft Auto games. I say I don't like open-world games, and the violence aspect of the game has never really interested me. It's one of the biggest games ever though so I feel like I should play through at least one of the games. Plus, I did enjoy Godfather and Crackdown so maybe I don't really mind open-world games. I'm only a few minutes into the game, but it's impressing me so far. When you load the game, it just dumps you straight into the opening scenes. There are no menus to wade through and it really feels like you are playing through a movie.
- First Aid - Tim and I are now Red Cross certified for first aid. We're halfway through the outdoor first aid class and last night was the test for the Red Cross portion. It has been an interesting class for me because I don't really care about getting a good grade or passing the tests. I just want to learn the material. The certifications are only good for a couple years anyway. That being said, it was nice to get ace that test after studying for a whole 10 minutes.
